I was seriously thinking about this product for my daughter's hair. She loves to wear her hair straight but, it only lasts a day or two.
Daughter wearing everyday style (curly hair)
Have you guys heard anything about it? Do you any of you use this product? Or have used it in the past?
I've also read that Brazil banned the product due to a woman passing from the adverse effects. That's pretty serious! Let me know!

I remember reading about it in allure several years ago. I am pretty sure they said it was the same ingredients that are in formaldehyde. However, my sister does a keratin straightener gets one that is supposedly formaldehyde free. So maybe you can just ask what is in the particular one they use. I don't know if the F-free one has something else in it equally bad. I guess any time u use some kind of chemical, its still a chemical. Good luck! :-)
I had been thinking about it for my own hair, too. I just wasn't able to find enough information about it's use on black women's hair so I punked out, but now I'm glad I did. I talked to my stylist about it and she said there hadn't been enough research published for her to recommend it to her clients.
I'll be interested to see what the results of the FDA investigation are.
Thanks Bianca and Ife - I too cannot wait to see what the FDA finds out. I think I'll put this on hold; even with the Keratin treatments without formaldehyde.
Dont let your daughter get it Corie. I have wild natural curly hair as well...check out some of my older post to come across some. I go to the Dominicains to get my hair straight and they do such an great job...my hair last for days...I just cant get near water or sweat or else it will frizz right on up. You daughter has a good grade of hair so it can be straightened ...you just need to find the right salon.
Being my Hair is so long...I have to sit under the dryer for 2 hours...but the dryer is the key. The longer you sit under there the better...then they just get the roller brush out and a hand held dryer and do piece by piece.
Hope this helps...
Dhalia
thanks! You look really nice! :)
@Dhalia - thanks! I have actually taken her to the Dominicans to get her hair straighten in the past. It was beautiful! However, it never lasts. But I think I will keep her away from any chemicals. thank you for the insight though.
@claarax - thank you!
wow. i've never heard this. it's definitely not worth it. her hair is beautiful as is. if she wants it straight just get a press or dominican blow out. when she wears her hair straight is she wrapping it at night and when she is in the shower?
I have never heard of the product either...
If she wants straight hair, look up this product on Facebook called ALTernative by Anika Lee Thomspon. I am friends with her on there and she hs developed a product for straigthening.... she also has a bunch of youtube videos.... (your daughter's hair is gorgeous curly!!!)
It may also be under Ryan Foster.. here's one of her videos.
