A Day At The Park...Six Flags That Is!!!

Yesterday I had taken my daughter and a couple of her friends to Six Flags Over Georgia. We got there around 11AM and didn't leave until 8PM. I haven't been on a roller coaster since 2005 when we went to Disney. This was so much fun! My daughter even rode on all of the roller coasters!!! Shocking!!! She scared of them!

First we got on the Georgia Cyclone - what an awesome ride!

Next it was Acrophobia, a ride we had to talk my daughter into...as well as her friend. It was one of the best rides there.

Then we found the Batman ride.

We were waiting to get on...not that long of a wait by far (left to right - My daughter (in pink Aeropastale shirt), her friend Ashley, and her bestie Esra)

Then, because we needed to cool down, we got on ThunderRiver. Yep....we cooled down alright! Drenched is what happened to us.

After ThunderRiver we got on this ride...Ninja, which was the last ride for me because it had given me such a bad headache. My head was all over the place on this ride. I would advise anyone who is 5'2 and under to not even think about getting on it. My daughter was fine because her head never hit the 'protectors'.

So because I had such a bad headache...I was done riding but my daughter and her friends rode on 2 more rides, Superman & the Great American Scream Machine.

We also rode on a log ride but it was so boring...nothing to really talk about there.

We had a great day! My daughter is already planning our next trip back. Apparently we didn't ride the Goliath and The Scorcher, 2 of the best rides there.

Officially on Vacation...

My vacation starts today. I was suppose to go back home to Wisconsin...but thanks to my mother, that's not going to happen.

She's still doing some renovation work on her home and, considering I was also bringing Levi with me, we were looking out for his well being. Basically if she has a lot of crap (dangerous crap) laying around...that would be bad for my lil Levi.

So I guess I'll have to look forward to my next vacation in July ... I'll be going to New York. Should be fun!

In the meantime...I'll just sit back and relax.

Broken Pipe = Repairs & Clean up...

Right after my daughter and I returned from our Miami trip, we had a pipe burst under our bathroom sink. Well, it flooded the bathroom of course, the hallway, dining area, and part of the living room area. So before anything could actually be done (adding of new flooring...), every part of every room had to be dried out completely and made sure that there wouldn't be any mold build up.

Today, the contractors were out to put in my new floors and the floor looks awesome. Before there was carpet in the hallway and dining area....now there is a gorgeous hard wood floor staring back at me! Love it!

But there was lots of cleanup afterwards. So my daughter and I had to totally, and thoroughly, hall ass to clean up everything. We are now done...

However, while the contractors were working hard at installing my new floors, I decided to make something. I made a couple of necklaces...nothing too hard or too complicated. Here they are:

Because it's been so hot outside; finding clothes to wear is so not on my mind. I even think we hit near 100 degrees yesterday!! Seriously!! If I could get away with not wearing any clothes at all right now...I'd be much happier and cooler.

But, I've been so uninspired. It's the heat. I don't think it's going to cool down anytime soon....1st day of summer was yesterday and it came in with a bang!

My Bad...

For some reason I thought today was Friday! So I wore my super casual Friday outfit today...but it's Thursday. So now I need to figure out what I'm going to wear on Friday. Geesh!!

I guess I just can't wait until the weekend gets here...it's been a super long work week.

You also may be wondering why I'm wearing a cardi?? Well...I've said this before; it's like 2 degrees in my office. I just don't understand it. Literally there are people who break out the heaters to warm up?!

But here I am without the cardi...

This Weekend Too is Over...

I had a great weekend! I say this in past tense because I usually don't count my Sundays as part of my weekend....sort of speak. Sunday is my day to get myself prepared for the upcoming week.

Yesterday my daughter and I went to the American Apparel Flea Market at Atlantic Station (thanks SimplyChic!). It was awesome! A great sale on wonderfully cool items. There will be pics soon!

After that we went to the movies to go see The Karate Kid....loved it! I'm usually a little bit skeptic of remakes but this remake was rather good. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith did good and should be very proud. Jaden Smith is a natural.

What Three Adjectives Might Other People Use to Describe Your Personality?

The Halo Effect...

***Warning...the post below is that of MY opinion only. I am not stating that I fully agree with the research, I am stating what I may have witnessed, and/or what I've heard (either actual stories or simply other research). It's not to offend anyone***

I recently read, in the June issue of Allure magazine, an article called "Pretty in the City". It basically talked about how attractive females are happier as opposed to less attractive females. This was also in correlation with personal relationships as well. It was a very small article, and, after reading it, I began thinking of 'The Halo Effect' and the similarities.

In society, attractive people tend to be more intelligent, better adjusted...more popular. This is described as the halo effect (due to the perfection associated with angels). It was stated that attractive people also have more occupational success and more dating experience than their unattractive counterparts. One theory behind this halo effect is that it is accurate -- attractive people are indeed more successful.

An alternative explanation for attractive people achieving more in life is that we automatically categorize others before having an opportunity to evaluate their personalities, based on cultural stereotypes which say attractive people must be intrinsically good, and ugly people must be inherently bad.

Whatever the reason, the notion that attractiveness correlates with success still rings true. Yet beauty is not always advantageous, for beautiful people, particularly attractive women, tend to be perceived as more materialistic, snobbish, and vain.

For better or worse, the bottom line is that beauty matters; it pervades society and affects how we choose loved ones. Thus, striving to appear attractive may not be such a vain endeavor after all.

I'm in Miami B*#@h!!!

Well, technically not anymore...I'm back in Georgia. I just really liked that song (the title by LMFAO), seemed appropriate.

My Memorial Day weekend was awesome! In the beginning I was worried about the weather forecast, but it turned out to be only beautiful days; a little on the muggy side, but great all in all.

My daughter and I toured the City a bit; like going downtown...

 My daughter snapped this shot of a cruise ship...she was estatic to see one, and now she wants to go on a cruise. I think the little fun slide, seen above on the ship, sold her..lol 

And this is what had me so worried....the clouds; and it did rain off and on but only late at night. I was so relieved.

We did head to the beach of course (South Beach), and I was in so much awe from all of the characters walking around...it was ... ... I'm speechless. You just had to be there. One thing I can say is that there were a lot....I mean a lot of women who had the utmost confidence within themselves. And I'll leave it at that.

However, the beach was great; the water was warm (as you swam out a little further), the sand was hot, and the people were friendly.
