Today is one of those days when you just want to sit back and probably watch a movie and eat some home popped popcorn. We all have our favorite movies we watch from time to time. But let me share with you my favorite movies on gloomy days.
1. Bring It On
The original movie. Not the sequels. It's a lot of fluff, but it's a fun movie to watch.
2. Napeolon Dynamite
My ultimate favorite movie. When this movie first came out in 2004, I was like no way am I going to see this movie. And, I didn't. One night I decided to rent it and to my surprise, it became one of my favorite movies of all time. It's quirky, charming, funny....and so Midwestern.
3. Little Miss Sunshine
A hilarious satire about a dysfunctional family obsessed with winning. Some may say this movie is either a sunny or dark comedy, I don't know. But I thoroughly enjoyed it.
4. Pitch Perfect
This movie is kind of like Glee and Mean Girls all in one. It's a genuinely exciting movie about a university A Capella group finding their way to discovery, friendship and success.
5. Clueless
Who doesn't know about this movie?! It's funny, clever, and cute. What more is there to say?
6. Eat Pray Love
Another one of my most favorite movies of all time. I didn't read the book, but I've heard the movie didn't do it justice. However, I have nothing to compare it to because I didn't read the book. Therefore, it was a really good movie. Julia Roberts was charming. I so wanted to go backpacking after I saw this movie.
7. Grease
A pleasing and energetic musical with catchy songs...never gets old.
8. The Devil Wears Prada
This movie is two films in one: a caustic, energetic satire of the fashion world and a cautionary melodrama. Love it!
9. Step Up
Best dance movie to me. Channing Tatum was definitely good eye candy.
10. Save the Last Dance
Definitely a teen-oriented romance. Great movie. Great soundtrack. I totally enjoyed it.
11. Footloose
The original. It's not much dancing, but what's there is great. It's more of an entertaining youth drama about the coming of change in a repressive small town.
12. Dirty Dancing
Classic dance movie.
13. Center Stage
I think I fell in love with ballet after watching this movie. Wonderful performances.
14. Sixteen Candles
Racy, drunken, hilarious 80's high school comedy.
15. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
This movie is a twisty, yet heartfelt look at relationships and heartache. It's a wonderful melancholy character study of romance, humanity, and the mind.
Again, these are just my favorites.
What are some of yours?
